Launched in 2010, the Kiran Girls Scholarship and Mentoring Program aims to illuminate opportunities within the fields of Information Technology and Computer Science. By offering IT and Computer Science scholarships, personalized mentoring, and hands-on corporate exposure coupled with soft-skills training, the program seeks to build career readiness among girls from underserved communities.

Initially supporting just 10 girls from Pune and Nagur, the program has expanded impressively, embracing 40 new scholars annually and reaching a notable milestone of impacting 500 lives to date. Dedicated scholarships of 40,000 INR yearly, alongside the welcoming of additional scholars advocating affirmative action, underscore the program’s commitment to fostering gender parity and nurturing technical prowess.

The tangible successes of the Kiran Girls Scholarship and Mentoring Program are evident in the career trajectories of its scholars. Many have secured esteemed positions within leading organizations, such as Persistent Systems, Barclays, Amdocs, Capgemini Texas Instruments, CISCO, Flipkart, Dassault Systems, and others, boasting salaries ranging from 6 to 8 lakhs per annum going up to 22 lakhs per annum. Exceptional performers have received offers soaring up to 43 lakhs per annum. Beyond financial upliftment, these young women, often the first in their families to access higher education, demonstrate the power of opportunity.

Putting in 600+ volunteer hours annually, Persistent employees mentor these young women in project work, career planning, and coding fundamentals, enabling the program to extend its influence beyond academic pursuits to holistic personal development. Through individual and group mentoring, including specialized residential programs, Kiran scholars acquire crucial skills, fostering not only career readiness but also personal fulfillment and societal impact.
